I’ve been reading about two ways to see the Mariners up close and personal, although not for a few months. They just announced their schedule for spring training, which will again be in Peoria, Arizona. First game will be a traditional fundraiser for children’s charities, Mariners against the San Diego Padres, who practice in the same facility there, slated for March 2nd. Seattle will play 32 “real” Cactus League games as well. I’ve spent some time in the Valley of the Sun – around July, you’d swear you were on the sun, but in March it’s perfect baseball weather. At preseason games, things feel more relaxed, you sit closer to the players, the whole experience seems much more personal.
If you can’t make it down to Arizona, though, you can at least watch the Mariners on high-definition TV again, on FSN Northwest Channel 664. Pretty amazing technology, let’s you zero in on more spitting and scratching than you can from right there in the stands! Y’know, maybe I’ll get tickets and watch from the way out in left field.
